Lindsey’s Restaurant will close July 17.

The popular Canton restaurant, located at 1900 Tuscarawas St. W, announced the news in a Facebook post on the Fourth of July.

In the post, the restaurant thanked its employees for making the eatery what it is and said future employers would be lucky to hire them. The restaurant also urged guests to use up gift certificates.

"Without you (the employees), we couldn't have made Lindsey's what it is today!!! We'll be here for another 2 weeks to serve you and to say goodbye to our friends we made over the years!!! And to give time for our employees to find other jobs," the post stated.

The news comes after some struggles for Lindsey’s. Earlier this year, the Repository reported that Lindsey’s co-owner Robert Wise said the lease would be expiring by the end of the year, but they were hoping to stay open in a new location.

Also at that time, Lindsey’s shared a Facebook post noting that co-owner Kenny Billman was retiring and the restaurant was dealing with a staffing shortage.

Facebook comments and likes poured in on that post in March with wishes for the restaurant to stay open. Throughout the months since, Lindsey’s adjusted its hours to compensate for the staffing shortages and had callouts looking for more workers.

Lindsey's fans were sad to hear the news and shared memories of the restaurant.
