The Donna Karan New York campaign also stars Karlie Kloss, Shalom Harlow and more iconic models

Donna Karan is a fashion icon, so it only makes sense that when it came time for Donna Karan New York to relaunch with a fresh new look, that the brand chose eight iconic models to front the campaign.

Starring Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Amber Valletta, Shalom Harlow, Carolyn Murphy, Imaan Hammam, Karlie Kloss and Liya Kebede, the campaign was shot by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz and spotlights Karan's power in lifting women up through fashion.

In a video shared exclusively with PEOPLE, Evangelista praises Karan's work over the years. "Donna believed more in women than anybody," Evangelista, 58, says. "You can be whoever you want to be in her clothes."

Evangelista has worked with Karan and the brand numerous times during her career, and as she flipped through some of her photo shoots and moments on the runway with the designer, she couldn't help but be emotional about her work with her.

"I remember the pep talks before the fashion shows," she shares. "The backstage felt more personal. She would try to instill this confidence in us, but once you were wearing her clothes, you didn’t need it. Donna’s been part of the milestone moments that I’ve had."

“It’s not about the clothes, it’s always been about the woman in the clothes,” Valletta gushed in a press release of her love of Karan and the label.

Karan launched her first collection with her namesake label in 1985 and became known for her "7 Easy Pieces," — a bodysuit, a tailored jacket, a skirt, pants, a cashmere sweater, a leather jacket and an evening look. AKA, the original capsule wardrobe.

For decades, she has maintained her ethos of providing women with beautiful wardrobe staples that stand the test of time. The label's relaunch for spring 2024 reminds fashion-lovers that the heritage brand is here to stay.
