Lincoln Park church services to feature The Chitans [Religion Digest]

Jan. 13----Lincoln Park Community United Methodist Church, 1 Carlisle Ave., Cumru Township, will host the international recording artists The Chitans on Sunday at its 9 a.m. contemporary and 11 a.m. traditional services. The Chitans are a family in full-time ministry from Toronto who have performed throughout the United States and Canada, Europe, Africa and the Caribbean over the last seven years. The Chitans are five siblings ranging in age from 15 to 24. Their music includes Southern gospel, contemporary Christian and traditional hymns. The family also will be performing today at 4 p.m. at at Rehoboth SDA Church, 1502 Snyder St., West Reading. On Monday at 5 p.m. in the Albright College Merner-Pfiefffer-Klein Chapel, they will be the featured guests as the college celebrates the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. At the Monday concert, TeTe Wallace of Spring Township will also be performing a rap song from the musical "Hamilton.".

—As part of its ongoing 75th anniversary celebration, Reformation Lutheran Church, 3670 Penn Ave., Exeter Township, welcomes the Rev. Mary Wolfe as guest preacher during the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday. Wolfe served Reformation from 2001- 2006 and most recently served at Hope Lutheran Church, Reading. A reception will follow the service in the parish hall.

—Linda and Mike Hertzog will present a Pennsylvania German New Year's Wish at St. Peter's United Church of Christ of Molltown, 219 Maidencreek Road, Richmond Township, and play additional music during the 10:15 a.m. worship service on Jan. 21.

—There will be refreshments after the 10:15 a.m. worship service on Sunday at United Church of Christ of Robesonia, 301 W. Penn Ave. Elected leaders will be installed during the service. —St. John's Lutheran Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., will offer a free drive-through take-out meal today from 4:30-5:30 p.m. No registration necessary.

—Friedens United Church of Christ, 337 Main St., Oley, will be having a drive-thru drop-off today for the benefit of the Oley Valley Food Pantry. Drop off times are from 9-11 a.m. in the church parking lot. The focus this month is for canned soups. The 10:15 a.m. service on Sunday will have guest pianist Bonnie Levan.

—The Rev. Bill Worley will be the guest pastor at the 9 and 10:30 a.m. worship services on Sunday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 5 W. Arch St., Fleetwood. Coffee hour will be held in the social room after the first service.

—Immanuel United Church of Christ 99 S Waverly St., Shillington will host The Heartland Marimba Quartet performing Kevin Romanski's Concerto for Marimba Quartet and Orchestra, with a piano reduction by Korey Barrett, plus other various works for marimba quartet next Saturday at 4 p.m. For more information about the quartet, visit www.HeartlandMarimba.com.
