EARLIER: Lin-Manuel Miranda chatted with Marc Manon on the latest episode of the WTF podcast, which debuted on Monday, about everything from the political post-election climate to his experiences in high school theatre. "I was the kid who figured out who he was in the school play," Miranda says.
Despite finding refuge in the theater, school wasn't always a safe haven. "Even kids who were the bullies would occasionally audition," Miranda said before revealing one former bully went on to have a successful music career of his own: Political rapper Immortal Technique.
Back then, Immortal Technique was Felipe Coronel and according to Miranda, "He was a school bully. He terrorized kids, he would throw them in the garbage. I got thrown in the garbage by him." The Hamilton creator doesn't hold any ill will towards his former tormenter who he admits, "scared the s--- out of us," but now says, "it's been wonderful to watch him grow up and find a political outlet for that anger."
Miranda talks about his past experience with Immortal Technique around the 37-minute mark and fans can check out the podcast in its entirety here.
