With June right around the corner, Hot 97 is preparing to roll out another festive Summer Jam for the New York Tri-State area. This morning (April 24), Ebro in the Morning announced that Lil Yachty, D.R.A.M., Young M.A., Don Q, PnB Rock, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Casanova, Phresher, and Dave East will perform on the festival stage at MetLife Stadium on June 11.
Over the years, the festival stage has served as a marquee platform for budding artists. In the past, notable acts included Jhene Aiko, Childish Gambino, Joey Bada$$, Action Bronson, and more.
"Hot 97 Summer Jam is a legendary, one-of-a-kind event," states Charlie Morgan, SVP/Market Manager of Emmis New York in a press release. "Each year, we host the biggest acts in music on two stages, plus have exciting experiences for our fans during the Festival Village pre-show. Add in major surprise appearances from Hip Hop's hottest artists, and you've got the best celebration of Hip Hop on the planet. The center of the Hip Hop universe is at MetLife Stadium on June 11th!"
"We've been doing anti-rain dances since the day after last year's show," adds Ebro Darden, On-Air Host/Assistant PD for WQHT in a statement. "It's all about the music and culture, and Summer Jam is the ultimate event to celebrate and appreciate Hip Hop. Make sure you get your tickets early though; we have a few tricks up our sleeves that you'll just have to be in the house to know about!"
Tickets will go on sale Friday, April 28, at 12:00 p.m. at Ticketmaster.com. The Stadium Stage lineup will be announced by Hot 97's Nessa on Tuesday (April 25) at 4:00 p.m. ET.
Lil Yachty's addition may come as a surprise to fans, considering his turbulent relationship in the past with the New York radio station. In June 2016, Yachty faced criticism for his rap skills on Ebro in the Morning. In response, Lil Boat retaliated with a record titled "For HOT 97", which was aimed at the skeptics regarding his prowess on the mic.
"@lilyachty and his team with these High School ass #bars ... Ha! FOH.. Love lil bro," wrote Darden in regards to Yachty's diss towards the famed radio station. In August, Yachty and Darden traded barbs again on Twitter after a fan hailed the "One Night" rapper as the next Nas. "The #Troll is apart of who these new rappers are… I wish #bars & great music were too," tweeted Darden.
Yachty responded, "Godddd I was waiting on u Gpa ebro how ya doin take ur meds and drink coffee this morning?" In November 2016, they made peace during Darden's Beats 1 radio show, where Yachty freestyled over Biggie's "Who Shot Ya?"
