Lil Wayne, fresh off his pardon earlier this week mere hours before the beginning of a new White House administration, has shared a statement in which he thanks single-term president Donald J. Trump.
"I want to thank President Trump for recognizing that I have so much more to give to my family, my art, and my community," Weezy said Thursday morning in a signed tweet. "I also want to thank [attorney Bradford Cohen] for working so diligently to secure another chance for me. Love!"

The tweet arrives shortly after the release of Wayne's new track "Ain't Got Time," featuring Fousheé:
Cohen, who also represents commutation recipient Kodak Black, claimed to the New York Times this week that Weezy's then-imminent gun charge was not the inspiration behind the artist's decision to publicly express support for Trump via a widely trashed photo op in October of last year.
In December, Weezy pleaded guilty to a federal weapons charge in connection with the discovery of a handgun on a private jet in 2019. In a statement to Complex about the pardon, Weezy's attorney Howard Srebnick said the move was "consistent with the views of many jurists" about prosecuting non-violent citizens.
