Lil Wayne Says He’s Got “More History To Make” Ahead Of Hot Boys Album

Lil Wayne’s career was Hall Of Fame-worthy over a decade ago, and he hasn’t slowed down since. The 41-year-old rapper recently claimed that he’s got “more history to make” and that may come via the forthcoming Hot Boys album.

The official Young Money X page tweeted about his DJ Drama-assisted mixtape Dedication 2 reaching 18 years this week. “It is one of the new mixtapes to be both financially successful and critically acclaimed,” they wrote. The project boasted records such as “Cannon,” “SportsCenter,” “I’m The Best Rapper Alive,” and “Where Da Cash At.”

Weezy F Baby is regarded as a mixtape legend and this is often one of the main ones that comes up in the conversation. With that knowledge, he quoted the tweet and wrote, “More history to make,” which led many people to believe that he was teasing forthcoming music.

Lil Wayne wasn’t being deceptive in that tease either, as he has a project coming with Wheezy and already shared the lead single “Bless” featuring Young Thug. However, he will also be part of another album that is a lot closer to home.

Last week, Juvenile revealed that the Hot Boys are back together. “Hot Boys [are] back together. What [are] you talking about put the Hot Boys back together? Show y’all ain’t keeping up with sh*t,” he said in a video. “Turk gonna be with me tonight. I’m gonna be with BG next week. Me, Wayne, Turk and BG, all of us gonna be on stage in New Orleans with Mannie Fresh and Birdman. And we already started working on a Hot Boys album. Any other f**king questions? Keep on askin’ put the Hot Boys together. Have some f**kin’ patience.”

The forthcoming album would be the collective’s fourth combined effort, following 1997’s Get It How U Live!, 1999’s Guerrilla Warfare, and 2003’s Let ‘Em Burn. The reference to being onstage with Mannie Fresh and Birdman was a promotion for the Hot Boys performing at Essence Festival this upcoming July.

Lil Wayne has been active musically over the last few years. In November 2023, he joined forces with 2 Chainz for Welcome 2 Collegrove which featured Usher, 21 Savage, Rick Ross, Benny The Butcher, Fabolous, and more. Two months prior, he shared Tha Fix Before Tha VI which had a posthumous appearance by DMX plus features from Jon Batiste, Cool & Dre, Fousheé, Euro, and TheNightAftr.

In terms of guest appearances, the New Orleans rapper has maintained his status as a “feature killer.” Earlier this year, he linked up with French Montana and Rick Ross for “Splash Brothers.” Last year, he joined Ciara and Chris Brown on the “How We Roll” remix and Benny The Butcher on “Big Dog.”

He also worked with Tyga and YG on “Brand New,” a reimagining of Rhymefest and Kanye West’s record of the same name, which sampled Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings’ “The Dap Dip.” Watch the “Brand New” music video below.
