On Monday (Oct. 23), Lil Uzi Vert entertained fans during the Chicago stop of their “Pink Tape Tour.” During their set, they surprised fans by announcing plans to retire after their fourth LP is released.

Luv Is Rage 3 will be my last album,” Uzi stated to the packed crowd within Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom, as seen via fan footage. “No, relax. It’s okay… After Luv Is Rage 3, I guess I will go on another tour… But after that, I wanna try to live a normal life.” As far as when that album will make landfall, no release date has been confirmed.

Back in June, Uzi liberated The Pink Tape, a mixture of rap, rock, and electronic vibes led by the double-platinum single “Just Wanna Rock.” Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Bring Me The Horizon, Don Toliver, Babymetal, and Snow Strippers contributed to the 26-song project. The Pink Tape became the first hip hop-oriented release to land at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2023 thanks to 167,000 first-week album-equivalant units sold.

In an interview with GQ, Uzi described how they fit within rap culture. “I’m not really the outcast, even though I take on the outcast aesthetic,” they explained. “You got the cool kids and the jocks. Then you got the nerds, then you got the kids with behavior problems. But I’m more of the class clown. Some days people will really like me. And then some days I get on they nerves.”

They also spoke on the reasoning behind their highly publicized rehab stint. “Around that time, I was still overly turnt,” Uzi said. “Of course, to the public, we lost people, which was super unfortunate and super crazy. But then in our world, we lose people every day to that. So it was almost like, I don’t want to say a norm, but it was normal.”
