On Monday (Sept. 4), Beyoncé celebrated her 42nd birthday during her star-studded Renaissance show in Inglewood, Calif. Surprisingly, another celebration took place that night as well.

During the magical event, comedian and actor Lil Rel Howery proposed to his girlfriend Dannella Lane from the crowd. The couple was shown on the jumbo screen moments before he popped the question, with Bey performing her heartwarming single, “Love On Top” on stage.

“SHE SAID YES!!!! What a story lol,” Lil Rel captioned a montage video on Instagram of clips leading up to the beautiful engagement. “Thanks @mstinaknowles and Jay for helping make this special moment happen. Tonight @beyonce put on an amazing B Day show thanks for letting have a little time on your show lol to make @dannellalane my fiancée… Love On Top!!! #LoveIsInTheAir #TheProposal.”

The Get Out star began the video ahead of the concert, showing him kissing the engagement ring on the way to the SoFi stadium, before sharing the life changing moment.

Showing a glimpse of the engagement ring, Lane could be seen emotionally embracing her new fiancé as she kissed and hugged him over and over.

Lil Rel then gave viewers a closer look at Lane’s hardware as he reposted a closer image of the ring on his Instagram Story. The Emmy-nominated actress tagged her fiancé with red heart and ring emojis.

The actress also shared a video on her Instagram celebrating her birthday and their new engagement following the concert.

“OMG OMG OMG!!! Wait let me pinch myself! Yep it’s real OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!” she captioned her own montage of videos. “ABSOLUTELY I SAID YES to the man of my dreams, my sweetface, my answered prayer! @comedianlilrel babe you put our love on TOP and I’m honored and grateful!!!”

Recalling the day of the proposal, she added, “On the car ride home I said ‘what am I going to do with you’ and you replied ‘we have the rest of our lives to figure it out’ OMG OMG. Thank you @mstinaknowles @beyonce and @jayz for helping my FIANCÉ pull this off and for sharing your bday with us! A whole Fiancé at Beyoncé!!!!”

Rel then shared the entire backstory about their engagement in another video on Tuesday via IG.

“When God speaks to you and tells you, ‘It’s time,’ it’s time. So I went to Tiffany’s and grabbed the ring,” he said deeming the proposal to be at the perfect time. “I told the kids and had a discussion with them and some friends and family. Dannella, she had no idea,” he continued, adding that she praised him for his gesture.

Lil Rel also revealed that Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, suggested that he get down on one knee to “Love On Top,” while JAY-Z tells him to “pop the question” on the jumbo screen. It hasn’t been made clear through video if Jay actually participated.

Speaking to almost missing his cue to pop the question due to a bathroom break, he added, “As soon as I started to use the bathroom, I started hearing [the opening notes] and I couldn’t stop my pee! I’m rushing back…The camera’s set up. I can’t find my seat. I don’t know why I got confused. Maybe because of the moment, I’m nervous. So I ran in and then I ran back out to retrace my steps.”

Rel then recalled the “Cuff It” singer having an exasperated look on her face as she waited on him to get back. “She was over you!” Lane joked as Rel added, “She was like, ‘When you gonna do this sh*t?!’”

The married couple to-be expressed their gratitude to both Bey and Jay who they said, “didn’t have to do anything like that.”
