Lil Peep’s Cause of Death Released
Lil Peep, the up-and-coming rapper who died last month at age 21, died from a combination of the opioid fentanyl and the anti-anxiety medication Xanax, the Pima County, AZ, medical examiner said Friday.
According to reports obtained by Tucson News Now, the rapper, whose real name was Gustav Ahr, had several other drugs in his system at the time of his death, including hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxycodone, cocaine and THC.
The rapper’s death was ruled accidental.

The rapper was found unresponsive on his tour bus outside of Tuscon concert venue The Rock, where he was scheduled to perform, in mid-November. Responders were unable to revive him.
Following the rapper’s death, his manager, Chase Ortega, grimly noted on Twitter that he’d been “expecting this call for a year.”

Prior to his Nov. 15 death, Lil Peep posted a since-deleted video to his Instagram account, saying that he “was lit” after taking six pills of the prescription drug Xanax, adding: “I’m good, I’m not sick.”
