Lil Nas X is not here for y’all’s judgment.
The “Montero” singer recently caused a stir when he posted a short snippet of a beautiful new song with the caption, “y’all mind if i enter my christian era?” The uplifting lyrics describe someone who’s asking for help finding hope.

Who is Tyrese to question what’s in Nas X’s heart? He doesn’t know what the Grammy winner’s relationship with God is. I’m sure the “Fast & Furious” star has heard “Let he without sin cast the first stone.” So why is he judging Nas when we know Tyrese is far from perfect?
The “Old Town Road” singer responded to Tyrese’s comments on X (f.k.a. Twitter): “This really crazy cuz all i did was post a song about asking god for hope when you feel hopeless and yall acting like I posted a video of me burning a church down and peeing on a nativity scene.”

Holy Gabbana got on their high horse in an Instagram Story, writing, “If Nas X wanna be gay cool, do u lil bra. Jus don’t title yaself Christian and make others believe it’s okay for us to live in habitual/intentional sin. Ppl deserve TRUTH and I stand on da word of God.”
Clearly exhausted with the judgment, Nas X reminded all the haters of the hypocrisy happening in some of their churches.
“It’s really insane how yall pretend some of our pastors aren’t getting piped down before the sunday service. yall do not know jesus personally stop trying to gatekeep him,” he wrote.

It is not up to anyone to decide if Lil Nas X is a Christian. That’s between him, God and no one else. He is an artist who has made boundary pushing creative choices in his presentation. His openness about his sexuality also makes him a role model to the LGBTQ+ community.
It’s obvious that a lot of people can’t handle his confidence. And just in case it’s not clear, when you say “live your life how you want but...” everything you say after that is judgmental nonsense. As Nas X says, Jesus and Christianity don’t belong to you. You don’t get to decide who worships and how. Calm down and let this man bring some inspiration to his fans.
