Lil Nas X's viral country-rap hit "Old Town Road" has reigned atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a record-breaking 19 weeks. Until now.
The song that beat out Mariah Carey and "Despacito" to become the longest-running No. 1 hit in history has been dethroned by Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy."
"Congratulations to billie eilish!!" Lil Nas X tweeted Monday. Billy Ray Cyrus, who was featured on the remix, added: "Congratulations @billieeilish Well deserved. Your persistence paid off. Thanks everybody. It was a hell of a ride."
Voters aren't sure: Should ‘Old Town Road’ be nominated for the CMA Awards?

It was a wild ride indeed.
In July, Lil Nas X’s viral song surpassed the 16-week record held by Carey and Boyz II Men’s "One Sweet Day" and Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber’s "Despacito" after it was pulled off the country charts in March for not being country enough.
Carey congratulated the rapper with an edited photo that shows her literally "passing the torch," tweeting, "Sending love & congrats to @LilNasX on breaking one of the longest running records in music history!"
Lil Nas X did the same for Eilish Monday after she ended his record, writing, "U deserve this."
Mariah Carey 'passes the torch' to Lil Nas X: 'Old Town Road' overtakes 'One Sweet Day' in No. 1 record
"Bad Guy" marks Eilish's first No. 1 single, after it spent nine weeks at No. 2, according to Billboard. The record is featured on her first album, "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart in April.
Eilish is making history of her own. The 17-year-old is the first artist born in the 2000s to top the Hot 100, according to Billboard.
