Lil Durk has responded to Donald Trump’s criticism of the high crime rate in his hometown of Chicago.

During an appearance with MSNBC’s Ari Melber this past weekend, the Almost Healed rapper was played a series of quotes from various figures bemoaning the city’s reputation as a hotbed for crime. In one soundbite, Trump is heard sharing his thought’s on the crime that has plagued The Windy City over the years.

“What’s going on in Chicago? I said the other day, what the hell is going on?” Donald Trump said in the clip. Durk reasoned that Chicago isn’t the only town in the nation with significant crime rates while shrugging off the sentiments of Trump and others.

“I really don’t pay it no mind because it’s violence everywhere,” the 31-year-old began. “You can get self-defense everywhere, you can kill anywhere, you can stab anywhere, you can choke anywhere, you can kidnap anywhere.”

The hitmaker continued, “It’s just every city has the moment of the rates. If you look up right now who got the most murder rate, I bet you it ain’t Chicago. So now the story transpire to that city. That’s why I never comment on it because every city has its day.”

Durk also spoke on his charitable and philanthropic work through his Neighborhood Heroes Foundation, which specializes in youth-focused initiatives and programs within the city. “It’s different when you up close and personal with them,” he expressed.

“It’s different when you doing non-profit like the Neighborhood Heroes and you in one of the worst neighborhoods in Chicago giving out turkeys or bookbags or showing them how to open up bank accounts to save money.”

Lil Durk is the latest rapper to reference or respond to Donald Trump’s sociopolitical views. Kodak Black and Sexyy Red have both championed the former United States President, voicing their desire to see the controversial candidate voted back into office in the 2024 Presidential Election.
