Everything ultimately comes down to dollars and cents. Lil Durk decided to up the ante after Ice Cube offered Iowa women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark $5 million to join the BIG3.

Complex aggregated the original story from TMZ and asked their X (formerly Twitter) followers if the Hawkeyes talent should take the 10-game offer. The Chicago rapper jumped into their comments to raise the stakes and get her to join his team, writing, “I got 10 million come play with my 3.”

Clark had already caught Durk’s eye after her amazing performance in Iowa and LSU’s Elite Eight tournament matchup on Monday (April 1), which Iowa won 94-87. She scored 41 points, had 12 assists, and grabbed seven rebounds. All the “All My Life” rapper could say in response to such basketball excellence was “Omg Clark.”

Ice Cube first offered Caitlin Clark the deal toward the end of last month, aiming to make history not just for the BIG3 league but to also “break down even more barriers for women athletes.” Her $5 million deal would make her the first woman to join the BIG3.

She would play in eight regular season games and two potential playoff games if whatever team she joined made it that far. He threw in “additional compensation,” specifically merchandising and sponsorships.

Most importantly, Clark would still be able to play in the WNBA, which is crucial as she declared her intentions to enter the upcoming draft and is expected to join the Indiana Fever as the No. 1 pick.

“We intended the offer to remain private while Caitlin Clark plays for the championship. But I won’t deny what’s now already out there: BIG3 made a historic offer to Caitlin Clark,” Ice Cube wrote on Instagram. “Why wouldn’t we? Caitlin is a generational athlete who can achieve tremendous success in the BIG3. The skeptics laughed when we made Nancy Lieberman the first female coach of a men’s pro team, and she won the championship in her first year. Then Lisa Leslie won it all in year two. With our offer, Caitlin Clark can make history and break down even more barriers for women athletes.”

The Friday actor believed this could be the catalyst for more women athletes to view his league as an alternative option when they are in their offseasons. “America’s women athletes should not be forced to spend their off seasons playing in often dismal and dubious foreign countries just to make ends meet,” he wrote. “And they should have more than just one professional option in the US at a time when American pro sports leagues are being infiltrated by autocratic, anti-women regimes such as Qatar. Our pathbreaking offer to Caitlin Clark demonstrates that BIG3 now offers another choice for athletes.”

Some fans took issue with the fact that this offer was made to Caitlin Clark first. “Could’ve offered this to a lot of the black ladies too…,” one person wrote in his comments. “All these black amazing college basketball women and u pick HER???!!!!!!! She dnt even hav a ring this hurts CUBE,” another fan wrote.
