The totally family-friendly event is the perfect way to begin the Christmas season.

Lawrence County's premiere master of ceremonies Vaughn Hudspath will keep the party moving in the Ellwood City Community Plaza where the 25-foot tree donated by Lake Forest Gardens is the centerpiece of the festivity. At 7:30 p.m. the tree springs to light and spectacular fireworks are sure to make your spirits merry and bright. Enjoy the harmonious melodies of the Riverside High School Chorus, a  special performance by New Castle Playhouse's leading lady Holly Marshall.

Everyone will be in the plaza including the man of the hour, Santa Claus.

At 6:30 p.m., Dance Expressions will perform at the PNC Bank drive-thru.

The Ellwood City Christmas Parade begins at 3 p.m. Saturday with bands, floats, fire engines and all the other traditional groups that lead up to Santa Claus' official appearance.

Christmas in the Park begins Saturday and is open every evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Drive through a magical journey of dazzling lights, festive displays and holiday cheer. Christmas Tree Lane with trees sponsored by businesses, in honor or memory of someone of just because it's Christmas, is a special part of the celebration.

On opening night, Santa will be at Trefoil Lodge for a jolly visit with the children. Additional dates will be announced on the Ellwood City Chamber website, https://ellwoodchamber.org/etn/christmas-in-the-park/.
