‘My Life With The Walter Boys’ Producer iGeneration Developing Ali Novak’s ‘Heartbreakers’ For Television

EXCLUSIVE: iGeneration Studios, producers of Netflix’s My Life with the Walter Boys, based on Ali Novak’s popular YA book, is reteaming with the author to develop a new drama series based on Novak’s Heartbreakers books. Titled The Heartbreakers Chronicles, iGen will be shopping the project.

My Life with the Walter Boys was just renewed by Netflix for a second season, after only ten days on the streamer. In its first full week on Netflix, the first season tallied more than 12M views, putting it at the top of the English-language TV charts. Following its December 7 premiere, the series shot to No. 2 on Netflix’s Top 10 list with 7.5M views in just a few days of availability.

The Heartbreakers Chronicles follows the exploits of the world’s #1 “boy band,” told from the perspective of the love interests of each of the band’s members.

Ed Glauser, iGeneration Studios founder and CEO, Lawrence Aldridge and Ella Troup will executive produce through iGen. Music executive Matt Emsell, who helped guide the band 5 Seconds of Summer to the top of the charts, will executive produce as well.

“While we’ve been developing The Heartbreakers Chronicles for some time, the overwhelming success of My Life with the Walter Boys as a series, makes this the perfect time to take this project to market,” said Glauser.  “Ali Novak writes books that young audiences want to read and we are so pleased that we can bring them to life on television for her millions of fans around the world.”

Novak’s Heartbreakers series has 55 million reads on Wattpad.  The first two books have additionally been published by Sourcebooks, Inc.

iGeneration Studios focuses on developing and producing scripted dramas for the young adult to primetime connected audiences. Their previous credits include The Kissing Booth film trilogy for Netflix, which set viewing records for the streamer. They are currently developing a slate of more adult-skewing series including period drama Diva, based on a Max Benitz script, with The Kissing Booth writer/director Vince Marcello on board as showrunner; an adaptation of author Simon Mayo’s bestselling thriller Knife Edge, with Siofra Campbell writing; and period medical drama Villa Paz, with The Handmaid’s Tale EP Matthew Hastings on board as showrunner.
