Amy Schumer is back and this time, expecting, in “Life & Beth” Season 2.

The next season of the Hulu series picks up with Schumer’s title character Beth tying the knot with unexpected love John (Michael Cera), and soon finding out they are pregnant.

In addition to the returning stars, Emmy winner Jennifer Coolidge, Beanie Feldstein, Margaret Cho, Jemima Kirke, Tim Meadows, and Amy Sedaris appear in Season 2, alongside Susannah Flood, Violet Young, Kevin Kane, Yamaneika Saunders, Laura Benanti, Michael Rapaport, LaVar Walker, Sas Goldberg, Arielle Siegel, and Rosebud Baker.

The official synopsis reads: “As Beth and John’s relationship grows more serious, Beth begins to examine the possibilities of marriage and having a family as she and John seek answers for their communication problems. Is Beth’s traumatic history with men, and people she trusted from her youth destined to repeat itself? And what is triggering her fears? Beth does her best to keep her relationships alive while struggling to support friends and family who are all facing their own problems while entering their fourth decade.”

Schumer’s first return to TV since her breakout series “Inside Amy Schumer” wrapped in 2016 follows wine sales representative Beth as she returns to her childhood home in Long Island. There, she falls for local farmer John, and starts to rebuild her life.

“I believe in this season of the TV show and think everyone’s love and hard work will show, but I want to make this quote ‘sexier,'” lead star, creator, and executive producer Schumer said in a press statement. “This season is raw and unprotected, ew sorry, let’s just use the first part.”

“Life & Beth” is written, directed, and executive produced by Schumer, with Kevin Kane, Daniel Powell, and Ryan McFaul also executive producing. The series is produced by Fifth Season.

“Life & Beth” also marked the beginning of Cera’s renaissance ahead of his standout turn in “Barbie.” Cera told IndieWire that the series was one of his first projects since the pandemic and that it felt “so new in a way to be back on a set and be around people and be social at work again after so long, after being locked up at home.”

Cera added of the cast, “We’re all just very enthusiastic about making the show, and it was infectious enthusiasm on set.”

The IndieWire review praised “Life & Beth” for providing a “rich and complicated vision of what it means to be a grown-up,” one that embraces the need to be “constantly revising” one’s life.

“You can come of age and then get lost again; you can go home only to realize that some things are better left in the past,” the review reads. “‘Learning anything is useful,’ Beth tells John between washing freshly harvested root vegetables and shoveling a chicken coop, both for the first time. She mostly means it. Beth was eventually dissatisfied with her life of selling in the city, but she never claims to regret it. An enriching life will have fallow seasons, like the one she’s just emerged from, and periods of self-discovery, like the one Beth is living through right now.”
