Liev Schreiber Wishes ‘Sweetheart’ Naomi Watts a Happy Birthday on Instagram After Split

Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts said they were ending their 11-year relationship with “great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts” — and that was evident on Wednesday.

That was the day the blonde marked her 48th birthday. From the set of her upcoming Netflix series, Gypsy, Watts posted a throwback photo of herself as a baby in a pram, which, oddly, was partially submerged in water. She wrote, “Another birthday!! #eek But I think I’m younger than this #vintagestroller?? Not quite sure what’s happening here… #eek #70’s #photoop #oldschool #raisedbyartists.”

The photo received a lot of likes and comments, but one stood out from the others: the one from the Ray Donovan actor. “Happy Birthday Sweetheart,” he commented.

Watts fans took notice. One posted, “Liev just left a birthday greeting,” along with a crying emoji. “I hope they get back together.”

The actress also shared a photo of a bunch of cake pops she received from director Sam Taylor-Johnson. “Why eat one when you can eat them all,” she captioned it. Liev didn’t comment on that, he was probably too busy drooling, like we were.

On Tuesday, a new interview with Liev, which was conducted three days before the couple announced their split, hit the Web, and the actor talked about how being apart from Watts — because of their careers — was taking a toll on their relationship.

“That has been one of the things that have been really, really hard for Naomi and I,” Liev, 48, told TV Week. “To find time for each other and to make time for each other. I think that is what makes a successful relationship.”

In the interview, he also gushed about her talent. “I am a huge admirer of hers,” he said. “I am a big fan of her acting and I think she is a remarkable actress and one of the greatest of all time.”

On Wednesday, as Naomi worked and celebrated turning 48, Liev was on daddy duty, doing the school run — via bike — for their boys, Sasha, 9, and Samuel, 7.
