Library's Science on Wheels program brings MU researchers to local audience

Columbia Public Library patrons can step inside the labs — and headspace — of University of Missouri researchers, in a roundabout way, through Science on Wheels.

Thursday's event, ideal for ages 10 and up, brings scientists to a curious audience to discuss what they're finding. Seven researchers will speak on a range of topics, according to an event description. They include:

  • Alejandro Chaves Trevino, "Bison, birds, and grassland restoration"

  • Victoria Hamlin, "Fly brains and the genome"

  • Katie Horton, "How do plants know they’re being attacked?"

  • Christian Perez, "Miniaturization in lizards"

  • Kathryn Storey, "How organs talk to each other during pregnancy"

  • Brian Thomas, "Tools to help the immune system fight cancer"

  • Cynthia Tang, "Flurona"

Science on Wheels runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the library's Children's Program Room. Registration is requested. To learn more, and see if seats remain available, visit https://www.dbrl.org/events.
