The library has many genres to choose from including a more recent genre that has gained popularity in recent years, graphic novels. We have graphic novels in our children’s section, young adult room and graphic novels can be found in the adult reading section as well. Simply defined, a graphic novel is a novel in comic-strip format. Graphic novels are like comic books as they use sequential art to tell a story. Unlike comic books, graphic novels usually have a stand-alone story with a more complex plot. Although, a collection of short stories previously published as individual comic books are also considered graphic novels. Check out our graphic novels collection by searching keyword graphic novels then narrow your search by selecting Cheboygan Library. We have graphic novels for most reading levels. Introduce a hesitant reader to this new format they may be inspired to read more!

Movie time anyone? The library has licensed access to hundreds of movie titles through our Swank movie license. Occasionally we host feature films in our temperature-controlled meeting space, the Linda Widrig Neuss room. During our spring break activities this past April, we celebrated by watching Peter Rabbit while enjoying freshly popped buttered popcorn from the Kingston Theatre.

If you or a group of friends, family members, children or teens would like to watch a feature film at the library on our big screen, simply start by searching swank.com for a list of available movies offered to public libraries. While on the Swank movie website scroll down to select public libraries to see which movies are available to watch at the library. Next, complete the online Google room use form found on our website to check room availability on the date and time you would like to enjoy a movie on our big screen. We will reply via email with either a confirmation of your date and time or offer alternate dates if your first choice is already booked. We will also verify the movie you selected is licensed to be watched at the library. The library is an oasis of opportunities and materials providing the community with access to many unique resources.
