Liam Neeson, Sharon Stone, and several others actors have voiced their support for Kevin Spacey, calling for his return to the film industry after accusations of sexual misconduct largely derailed his career since 2017.

The statements of support were given by Spacey’s friends — including Neeson, Stone, F Murray Abraham, and Stephen Fry — to The Telegraph in the wake of new allegations being levied against him by the Max documentary Spacey Unmasked.

“Kevin is a good man and a man of character,” Neeson said. “He’s sensitive, articulate and non-judgmental, with a terrific sense of humor. He is also one of our finest artists in the theater and on camera. Personally speaking, our industry needs him and misses him greatly.”

Spacey went to trial in 2022 for allegedly making an unwanted sexual advance towards a then-14-year-old Anthony Rapp, but was found not liable. Likewise, last year, he faced 12 charges in a UK court and was found not guilty. In the wake of those legal exonerations, he’s recently attempted a comeback, and appeared in the film Peter Five Eight earlier this year.

Spacey’s return has not been without pushback, though. Before Peter Five Eight, Spacey also appeared in the 2023 film Control, which was pushed out of its original premiere venue by pressures around Spacey’s involvement. Earlier this month, Spacey Unmasked arrived on Max, and has since become a top-streaming series on the platform.

But as Spacey’s friends like Stone see it, he “is a genius,” and should be welcomed back into the fold. Continuing, Stone said “It’s terrible that [Spacey’s accusers] are blaming him for not being able to come to terms with themselves for using him and negotiating with themselves because they didn’t get their secret agendas.”

For his statement, Abraham — who has faced sexual misconduct allegations himself — said, “I vouch for him unequivocally. Who are these vultures who attack a man who has publicly accepted his responsibility for certain behavior, unlike so many others? He is a fine man, I stand with him, and let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”

Meanwhile, Spacey celebrated Christmas 2023 by acting like a deranged lunatic with Tucker Carlson, you know, like a genius.
