Lewis “Lew” Rothman Dies: Strategy PR/Consulting Exec, Former TWC CTO Was 63

Longtime entertainment executive Lewis “Lew” Rothman, Head of Business Affairs and Operations for Strategy PR/Consulting, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in East Hampton on Friday. He was 63.

Among the vanguard at the intersection of the entertainment and tech businesses, Rothman had most recently served at Strategy PR/Consulting, the bicoastal entertainment PR agency specializing in awards campaigns for film studios and television & streaming companies. Over his seven years there, he was instrumental in the company’s growth.

Previous to that, Rothman took a position at newly-formed The Weinstein Company in 2006, serving as the movie studio’s Chief Technology Officer for ten-plus years.

Always ahead of the curve, in the early ’90s Rothman and his wife Serina Mayer started a new media consultancy, Vibemaster, Inc., which served as a strategic development liaison between entertainment and technology companies, crafting multiplatform marketing opportunities that introduced new ways to incorporate the burgeoning new media wave.

Rothman was instrumental in developing the first online commercial casting company, Castnet, and later served as the CTO for Atomic Pop, the first online record label, launched by prominent record industry executive Al Teller and Mayer.

East Hampton was his happy place. There he hand-built furniture and collaborated on sculptures with his Mayer. He was an avid watch collector, a food and coffee connoisseur and had a keen eye for art, architecture and design.

Rothman is survived by his wife/partner of 33 years, Serina; daughter Raella; sisters Barbara Kreiger and Cheryl Ann Krane; extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins; and countless friends who loved him like he was family.

Those wishing to pay their respects are encouraged to join in a celebration of his life at The Jewish Center of the Hamptons on January 5th, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in-person may also take part in the services virtually.

In lieu of shiva and sending food to the house, his family has shared that a donation may be made in Rothman’s memory to HIAS and The Art Barge.
