State rankings show not all Texans

getting the attention they deserve

With elections near and campaign ads streaming, it is informative to see how Texas ranks in comparison to all states in various categories. According to U. S. News and World Report, these are Texas' current rankings among the 50 states:

  • Health Care: 31

  • Education: 34

  • Economy: 9

  • Infrastructure: 16

  • Opportunity: 39

  • Fiscal Stability: 10

  • Crime and Correction: 37

  • Natural Environment: 40

  • Overall Ranking: 31 of 50

From these statistics it would appear the focus of current elected leaders is not on health care, education, opportunity or crime control. Sad for those who have no health care, no affordable housing, underfunded schools and inadequate protection from violence.

All Texans, not just the business community, deserve attention and the concern of our state government, especially after the length of time they have been in office. You have to wonder what they have accomplished on border issues as well.
