Let's all watch Star Wars breakout Babu Frik on a loop, forever

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is, to put it diplomatically, a controversial movie. But regardless of your feelings on Rey’s parentage or how exactly the Emperor might have survived his swan dive into the Death Star, there is one moment in the newest Star Wars film that unites all Star Wars fans from every corner of the galaxy.

His name is Babu Frik, and he is extremely good. The tiny babbling droidsmith pops up in Rise of Skywalker to do some less-than-legal hacking on C-3PO, and he is immediately the best thing in the entire movie. Our boy Babu makes the most of his small but impactful screen time, and upon my second rewatch, I couldn’t help but think every Rise of Skywalker scene would be improved by his presence. The Pasaana chase scene? The lightsaber duel amongst the Death Star wreckage? Whatever the hell happens on Exegol? All needed 100 percent more Babu Frik.

Now, Disney has given the people what they want and released Babu’s full introductory scene on YouTube. Here he is in all his glory, with his itty-bitty welding goggles and his chirpy voice. (Fun fact: He’s voiced by Shirley Henderson, whom you may know for her star turn as Moaning Myrtle in the Harry Potter series.)

Why rewatch Rise of Skywalker, when we can just rewatch our favorite little mustachioed gremlin on repeat for all time?
