'Let's thrash': Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins to play Chase Field in downtown Phoenix

Green Day announced plans to play Chase Field in downtown Phoenix on Wednesday, Sept. 18, as part of a 2024 stadium tour with Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and the Linda Lindas.

Green Day revealed the news that this tour would be happening during a surprise show for 800 fans at the Fremont Country Club in Las Vegas, where they also debuted "The American Dream Is Killing Me,” the first single released from their 14th album, "Saviors," which arrives on Jan. 19, 2024.

“We’ve never been more excited to unleash new music than with"Saviors," a record that’s meant to be rocked live, together," the band said in a press release. "So let’s thrash. We’ve got some amazing friends who are coming along for the ride!”

They've promised "a larger-than-life, career-spanning celebration of one of the biggest musical acts of all time and some of the most important albums in history."

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Green Day’s 10-times-platinum breakthrough, "Dookie," and the 20th anniversary of "American Idiot," one of rock 'n' roll's great comeback albums.

This show will mark Green Day's first metro Phoenix performance since they headlined Innings Festival in February 2023.
