LeToya Luckett And Stephen Bishop Discuss ‘One Night Stay’ Thriller

What happens when a hopeful one-time fling changes each paramour forever? This is the case in One Night Stay, a twisted thriller exploring an obsession gone overboard. Starring LeToya Luckett, Stephen Bishop, and Iyana Halley, One Night Stay is from Worldwide Entertainment and Media in association with Choice Films for BET+ and was released on the streaming platform earlier this month.

According to the official description, the character Jessica (Halley) refuses to be discarded after a one-night stand gone wrong. Instead of leaving her lover Marcus’ (Bishop) luxurious mansion, she finds a quiet place to hide and moves in permanently, a fact unknown to Marcus and his wife Milia (Luckett).

“To me, the last twisty-turn at the end with Milia being the mastermind, for whatever her reasons were, I think she had a lot of reasons, but, I wasn’t expecting that,” explained Luckett to VIBE during a video conference discussing her favorite elements of the storyline. “I knew it would catch people off guard. I think that’s one of the main things that attracted me to the script.”

She continued to detail, “I think as far as people walking away with something, a takeaway would be, ‘Don’t go with what you just want at the time. Think about [and] consider all things.’ Especially for Jessica, baby! You ain’t think that all the way through.”

“Ain’t no way that sh*t was going to end well,” interjected actor Robert Christopher Riley. He stars in the One Night Stay as Andre, a member of law enforcement investigating suspicious occurrences.

Additionally, MC Lyte, Essence Atkins, Laurissa Romaine, Anthony Commodore, Kelsey Delemar, Gary Budoff, Lawrence Saint-Victor, and Tim Trillioni all have leading roles in the silver screen production.

Bishop also offered his opinion on the drama-filled film’s ultimate lesson.

“I think that there’s a lot of what happened at the beginning of the movie and there always has been, people meeting at bars and ending up at each other’s houses. But, the world is growing crazier by the day, and people are getting lined up regularly. You never know when somebody has innocent or genuine intentions, or [if] they have malicious intentions. It’s very important that you get to know somebody before you allow them to be able to locate where you live with your family. We have to be more careful about who we give the keys to the mansion too soon.”

In the end, Luckett believes her character “walked away with a sense of relief.”
