‘Lethal Weapon’ Lands Full-Season Order From Fox

Fox has given a full-season order to “Lethal Weapon.” The freshman action drama is this fall’s first new Fox show to have its season extended.

“’Lethal Weapon’ delivers an explosive and wildly entertaining core relationship between two cops, with dynamic performances by Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford, surrounded by cinematic action, endearing humor and true heart,” said Fox entertainment president David Madden. “Matt Miller, McG, Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz have done a tremendous job on this show, which has proven to be a self-starter and solid companion for ‘Empire.’ We are thrilled to add these episodes to ‘Lethal Weapon’s’ first season.”

The move extends the first season of “Lethal Weapon” to 18 episodes, the same length as “Empire,” which “Lethal Weapon” airs ahead of at 8 p.m. on Wednesday nights.

With an average 3.0 Nielsen live-plus-seven rating among adults 18-49, “Lethal Weapon” is tied with CBS’ “Bull” as the third highest rated new broadcast drama of the season, behind NBC’s “This Is Us” and ABC’s “Designated Survivor.” According to Fox, the series is averaging 11.5 million total viewers in live-plus-seven across multiple platforms.

“Lethal Weapon” is the fourth new broadcast show this fall to land a full-season order, joining “This Is Us,” “Designated Survivor” and ABC comedy “Speechless.” Starring Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford, it is produced by Warner Bros. Television in association with Lin Pictures and Good Session Productions. It is executive produced by Matt Miller, Dan Lin, Jennifer Gwartz, and McG.
