Let the good times roll! Boozy Mardi Gras bashes bring Bourbon Street vibes to Austin

Mardi Gras, which is French for "Fat Tuesday," is the Christian tradition of eating fatty foods before Lent starts. Lent starts on Ash Wednesday, which falls on Valentine's Day this year, so we've got lots of Mardi Gras events coming up. Here's what we found:

Pardi Gras at Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden

Banger's will have beads, beer, live music and more at its Pardi Gras celebration Feb. 9-11. Food specials include boudin, brats, beignets, gumbo, gator hush puppies and more.

"We’ll be playing zydeco, brass and blues all weekend long (to) transport you from Rainey Street to Bourbon Street," the event's description says.

Mardi Gras Mambo at The Hive

Live music, crafts for kids and themed drinks are all on the itinerary for The Hive's Mardi Gras celebration on Feb. 11. The event kicks off at 4 p.m. and lasts until 10 p.m. The Hive is located at 10542 Menchaca Road. Tickets start at $10. More information can be found at: hiveaustin.com.

Valentines's Day x Mardi Gras Mash-Up at DrinkWell

DrinkWell, 207 East 53rd St., will have a Mardi Gras/Valentine's Day-themed menu Feb. 12-14. The menu will include Valentine's Day twists on New Orleans classic cocktails. They'll also be offering shareable New Orleans-inspired appetizers. More information can be found at: drinkwellaustin.com.

Fat Tuesday facepainting at Easy Tiger

Easy Tiger is hosting a Mardi Gras celebration on Feb. 13 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The celebration will be at Easy Tiger's South Lamar location at 3508 South Lamar Blvd. It includes beads, King Cakes, hurricanes and facepainting. Fat Tuesday at The Far Out Lounge

The Far Out Lounge's Fat Tuesday celebration includes music from Nikki Glaspie’s Dikki & The Brain Duo and the Mardi Gras Band featuring Jimmie Dreams. Bobby Perkins, The Watters, Trevor Nealon and John Spiece are also on the bill. Doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets start at $12. More information can be found online: thefaroutaustin.com.

Mardi Gras with Big Wy's Brass Band at Central Machine Works

A gumbo cookout, daquiri Jello shots, free beads and masks? Sign us up. Central Machine Works is hosting Big Wy's Brass Band on Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. Big Wy's Brass Band goes on at 8 p.m. More information can be found at: cmwbrewery.com.

Let the Good Times Roll - Mardi Gras 2024 at Still Austin Whiskey Co.

Still Austin Whiskey Co.'s Mardi Gras celebration will include live music, a two-foot-long oyster po-boy sandwich, oyster flights and mini king cakes from Huckleberry. The event, held at Still Austin Whiskey Co. at 440 East Saint Elmo Road, starts at 4 p.m. on Feb. 16 and ends at 10 p.m. It is free to attend but you must RSVP.
