Leslie Jones Is Leaving “SNL”

Leslie Jones is departing the “Saturday Night Live” cast before the show returns on September 28 for its 45th season, Variety and THR report. Jones first joined the show as a writer, was featured in “Weekend Update” segments, and then became a featured player in the cast in 2014. Her Netflix comedy special is scheduled to arrive in 2020.

Among Jones’ many memorable moments on “SNL” were her debate with Matt Damon about Weezer, the time she portrayed Gayle King across Kenan Thompson’s R. Kelly, and the time she asked Drake if she could do a sketch where she spanks him like a baby.

According to both THR and Variety, Kate McKinnon will return for another season of “SNL.” Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, and Billie Eilish are set to perform on the new season.
