Who is Leonardo Dionicio? Meet the 'Love Island USA' contestant with Ohio ties 🏝️

A former Ohio baseball player is searching for love in Fiji.

Season 5 of Peacock's popular dating reality show, "Love Island USA," premiered July 18, and former University of Dayton baseball player Leonardo Dionicio is among the new group of young singles in this year's villa.

Dionicio, 21, was the first male islander to enter this season and has since turned the heads of several women, including Anna Kurdys, Kassy Castillo and Johnnie Garcia.

With new episodes of "Love Island USA" airing six days a week and the infamous Casa Amor recently shaking up the villa, we decided to put together a short bio about the former Flyers player. Here's what to know about Leo.

Who is 'Love Island USA' star Leonardo Dionicio?

Dionicio is a 21-year-old salesman from West Hartford, Connecticut. He played Division I college baseball for the University of Dayton.

According to his Peacock bio, the former Flyer comes from a family of athletes. His twin sister currently plays soccer at Yale, and his older brother played baseball at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Leo believes he's single because he can "see a red flag from a mile away." He also said he thinks men often rely too heavily on "cheesy pickup lines." Dionicio instead uses eye contact, funny sayings and his fluency in Spanish to get dates, per his bio.

The islander's celebrity crush is actor Eva Mendes.

According to his Instagram, Dionicio enjoys traveling. He often visits New York and other destinations, like Miami Beach, Florida, and Galapinhos Beach in Portugal.

Leo isn't the only season 5 contestant with ties to the Buckeye State. Marco Donatelli, 22, is from Youngstown, and Najah Fleary, 25, is from Bladensburg, Maryland, but lives in Central Ohio.
