Leonard Wu Joins James Cameron’s ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Leonard Wu (Netflix’s “Marco Polo”) has been cast in James Cameron’s “Alita: Battle Angel” opposite Rosa Salazar, Jackie Earle Haley, Eiza Gonzalez, Lana Condor, and Christoph Waltz.

Robert Rodriguez is directing and Cameron will produce with Jon Landau through his Lightstorm Entertainment banner. Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis will write the screenplay, based on Yukito Kishiro’s manga series.

The story is set in a 26th-century dystopian future and follows an amnesiac cyborg who’s rescued from a scrap heap and becomes a bounty hunter tracking down criminals. Fox has already set a July 20, 2018, release date for “Alita: Battle Angel.”

Wu will play the Kinuba cyborg character in the movie. Earlier this year, Wu joined the second season of “Marco Polo” as a series regular. He also appeared in feature films “17 Again,” “Crush the Skull,” and “Revenge of the Green Dragons.”

Wu is repped by Martin Management and Joseph Le Talent Agency.
