Netflix has officially released the first trailer for its upcoming series One Day. The show, which is an adaptation of David Nicholls' 2009 best-selling novel of the same name, follows Dexter Mayhew (The White Lotus' Leo Woodall) and Emma Morley (This Is Going to Hurt's Ambika Mod) for 20 years of friendship (and will-they-won't-they drama).

Much like the book — and the 2011 film adaptation starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess — the show checks in with the characters one day each year, letting viewers live with them far beyond the first night they meet at college. As Nicholls previously told EW, "The premise of the novel was it should be like looking through a photograph album in the way that a photograph snatches a moment in time, that these days are little vignettes of how you were at that time. So that was very much the intention with the show, that they would age."

As the trailer (below) shows, the series follows Emma and Dexter through many different phases of their lives — but the one constant that they have is each other.

The 14-episode series hits Netflix on Thursday, Feb. 8.
