Not sure if you could tell from how bright the sun is shining or how loud that concert is or how absolutely amazing you look in those jeans, but Leo season is upon us!

From July 22 to Aug. 21, the zodiac sign Leo, ruled by the Sun and represented by the majestic lion, reigns. That means the vibe for the next month is big, bold and confident. Think of celebrities like Madonna, Viola Davis, Mick Jagger, and Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck – all Leos with a megawatt stage and screen presence.

It’s a last hurrah for summer and for many of us, a last hurrah for poolside reading as well. So, of course, we’ve put together some show-stopping book recs to meet all of your fire-sign needs for the next month.

For the Leo looking for love and friendship: The Las Léonas Series by Adriana Herrera

"A Caribbean Heiress in Paris," by Adriana Herrera.
"A Caribbean Heiress in Paris," by Adriana Herrera.

Herrera’s historical romance series set during the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris is so Leo that its name, “Las Léonas,” translates to “the lionesses.”

Herrera’s Las Léonas are a trio of best friends: Luz Alana, Manuela, and Aurora, who find themselves in Paris for the summer. The series is full of self-assured businesswomen, incredible banter, and yes, a bit of scandal. We adore these powerhouse women.

In this series, so far made up of the books "A Caribbean Heiress in Paris" and "An Island Princess Starts a Scandal, Herrera centers on both Latin American history and characters. About these books, Herrara wrote on Goodreads, “My dream was to write historicals where the world could be big enough to include us as our full selves and that is what I am doing.”

So far, Luz Alana and Manuela have found their happily ever afters, and we can’t wait to read Aurora’s story next!

For the Leo who wants a wild ride: 'August Kitko and the Mechas from Space'

"August Kitko and the Mechas from Space," by Alex White.
"August Kitko and the Mechas from Space," by Alex White.

Have you heard anything more Leo than a jazz pianist choosing to spend his last moments on earth kissing rock stars and playing piano during an epic goodbye-to-humanity party?

“August Kitko and the Mechas from Space” by Alex White starts with what is supposed to be the end of the world when ultra-powerful robots from space infiltrate with the intent to kill. But then the unthinkable happens, and Gus Kitko is chosen to join a small group of robots who actually want to save the world.

This story is action-packed, glamorous, and light-hearted –– a perfect space opera for sunny Leos.

For the Leo destined for stardom: 'Siren Queen'

"Siren Queen," by Nghi Vo.
"Siren Queen," by Nghi Vo.

Leos are made for the screen and so is the main character in Nghi Vo’s “Siren Queen,” Luli Wei.

This fantastical story of pre-Code Hollywood follows a Chinese American girl who is absolutely determined to become a star. In this world, Hollywood studios run on a system of ancient magic powered by the sacrifice of starlets like Luli.

“Siren Queen” subverts the typical golden age of Hollywood story and features a main character who will do whatever it takes to get the life she knows she is meant for. Full of drama and glamour, this book is practically calling out for the right Leo to pick it up.

For the Leo who can get into more than a little trouble: 'You Can Trust Me'

"You Can Trust Me," by Wendy Heard.
"You Can Trust Me," by Wendy Heard.

Is this thriller so perfect for Leo season that one of the main characters is literally named Leo? Yes, it is.

In “You Can Trust Me” by Wendy Heard, two best friends, Summer and Leo, are con artists – Summer is focused on small wins like pickpocketing, but Leo has her sights set on the uber-rich of California.

When Leo (the character!) is brought to a private island for a major party by a billionaire she’s planning to con, Summer isn’t surprised at all. But she is surprised when Leo doesn’t check back in the next day. This sets off a fast-paced chase for Leo, in which Summer must find a way onto the island and get her best friend back.

This is the definition of a poolside read and the perfect book to close out the season.

For the Leo who has to know what's happening off screen: 'Will They or Won't They'

"Will They or Won't They," by Ava Wilder.
"Will They or Won't They," by Ava Wilder.

“Will They or Won’t They” by Ava Wilder is an addicting story of two co-stars who have an epic on-screen romance but hate each other in real life.

Lilah and Shane have undeniable chemistry on their long-running television show, but Lilah left back in Season 5 to pursue a film career that didn’t pan out. Now, she’s back to close out the ninth and final season – if she and Shane can make it through. Because what no one knows is that the two of them had a fling back in Season 1 and have despised each other ever since.

There’s just nothing like Hollywood drama, especially when it’s this good! Leo season is all about embracing your inner starlet, and there’s no better way than stocking up on Hollywood romances.
