Leo Finally Won His Oscar; These Hollywood Stars Are Now the Most Deserving

The Internet blew a great sigh of relief Sunday when Leonardo DiCaprio finally came away with an Oscar for his performance as Hugh Glass in The Revenant. It was DiCaprio’s fifth nomination dating back to 1994, and all he had to do this time was scream, cry, eat bison liver, and freeze to death. Now that the Hollywood star has earned his statue, who’s next?

There are several deserving performers who have yet to come away with a win Bradley Cooper, Benedict Cumberbatch, Viola Davis, Ryan Gosling, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ed Harris, Ed Norton, and Will Smith being some of the most notable. Matt Damon and Brad Pitt are both Oscar winners, but not in the acting category, so they too are waiting for recognition for what they’re most known for.

Still, though, there are a select few we homed in on as especially deserving:

  • Glenn Close (nominated six times)

  • Tom Cruise (nominated three times)

  • Samuel L. Jackson (nominated only once — baffling, we know)

  • Amy Adams (nominated five times in the last 10 years)

  • Ian McKellen (nominated two times)
