Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman are set to host the 2022 Film Independent Spirit Awards show.
“We are sincerely excited to be hosting the 2022 Film Independent Spirit Awards. We hope to get a little rowdy, but it’ll mainly be legitimate cinematic discourse. Although, with the two of us involved, it’s more likely to be intercourse. Either way it’ll be legit,” shared hosts Mullally and Offerman.

Said IFC General Manager Blake Callaway, “The Spirit Awards are back. After a year away, it is exciting to be back at the beach, live and in person, with this spectacular duo. Megan and Nick will make this year and this stop on the awards’ calendar one to remember.”
Winners for the 2022 Film Independent Spirit Awards will be revealed in-person on March 6th in Santa Monica and will air exclusively on IFC and stream on AMC+ 5:00PM ET.
Francis Ford Coppola to be Honored by ICG Publicists With Lifetime Achievement Award
The ICG Publicists (International Cinematographers Guild, IATSE Local 600) are set to honor celebrated filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 59th Annual ICG Publicists Awards ceremony.
“Francis Ford Coppola has impacted nearly every facet of motion picture storytelling–from script to direction, from craft to tech—and it’s our honor to celebrate him on the fiftieth anniversary of The Godfather’s release. With that masterpiece, as with his entire body of work, Coppola has continuously recharged American movies and changed popular culture in ways that have stood the test of time,” said John Lindley, ICG National President.
An auteur and innovator in complete command of the medium, Coppola’s seminal works include “The Godfather” (1972), “The Godfather, Part Two” (1974), and “Apocalypse Now” (1979).
Past recipients of the prestigious ICG Publicists Lifetime Achievement Award include Julie Andrews, Peter Bart, Warren Beatty, Carol Burnett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, Sid Ganis, Don Mischer, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Lily Tomlin, Betty White and Robert Zemeckis.
The annual ICG Publicists Awards will take place on March 25.
Casting Society Announces Name Change And Unveils New Logo
The Casting Society of America (CSA) will now be known as Casting Society.
This new name reflects the expansion of its membership in the last several years to close to 1,200 members, with approximately 300 of those casting professionals living and working around the world, with members based in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa. The name change, along with a new logo, comes as CSA celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2022. Originally called American Society of Casting Directors, it was founded in 1982 by Mike Fenton, Al Onorato and Joe Reich.
“By removing America from our name, we are embracing how CSA has grown exponentially and globally in recent years,” said Williams. “The acronym CSA will stay the same, as it is a trusted and well-known moniker used by casting directors across the entertainment spectrum, from film, television, theater, short films and commercials.”
In recent years, leading International entertainment organizations have increased their recognition of casting. In 2020, The British Academy added a casting category to their BAFTA Film Awards, the first of all the major film ceremonies to do so followed by the Australian Academy (AACTA) in 2021.

Yvette Nicole Brown Will Host the 26th Annual ADG Awards
Yvette Nicole Brown will host the 26th Annual Art Directors Guild Awards (ADG, IATSE Local 800).
As previously announced, Jane Campion will receive the esteemed Cinematic Imagery Award. Denis Villeneuve celebrated for directing numerous epic movies including the recent highly acclaimed film adaptation of “Dune,” will be the recipient of the William Cameron Menzies Award.
Production Designer Ida Random (AD), Scenic Artists Michael and Denise Okuda (SDMM), Set Designer/Art Director Ann Harris (STG) and Concept Illustrator and Storyboard Artist Donna Cline (IMA) will all be presented with Lifetime Achievement Awards
The ADG Awards returns to a live event on March 5 at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown.
Lena Dunham Film Sharp Stick Bought by Utopia
Lena Dunham’s Sundance entry “Sharp Stick” has been acquired by small indie distributor Utopia for U.S. rights. Utopia plans a theatrical release later this year.
The film, which follows a young woman’s unexpected quest of sexual exploration and self-discovery, marks Dunham’s first feature in 12 years since her breakout “Tiny Furniture.”
“Sharp Stick” stars Kristine Froseth, Jon Bernthal, Taylour Paige, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Dunham, Luka Sabbat, Tommy Dorfman and Scott Speedman.
“I’ve been so impressed with how quickly Utopia has established itself as a brave and committed voice in independent and experimental film,” Dunham said in a statement. “They don’t cower from unusual or divisive work, and they have utter respect for the filmmakers’ voice, and I couldn’t feel luckier to be releasing ‘Sharp Stick’ under their auspices.”
After its Sundance premiere, some critics hailed its humor and sex-positive approach, but it ended up with a weak 43% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Utopia’s recent titles have included “Shiva Baby,” “Poly Styrene: I Am a Cliche,” “Vortex” and “Jane By Charlotte.”
The deal was negotiated by Danielle DiGiacomo for Utopia and CAA Media Finance on behalf of the filmmakers.
Eva Longoria Appears in Academy Latinx Series ‘Seen’
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released its latest episode of “Seen,” a series of interviews on culture, identity and representation with influential Latinx filmmakers and artists. In the new episode, Eva Longoria and journalist and series host Nick Barili visit Cal State Northridge, where Longoria got a master’s in Chicano Studies. She talks about the importance of activism and knowing your history, how being white-passing both helped and hurt her as an actor, and why she kept her day job for the first two years of her acting career. The episode is available now on the Academy’s YouTube.
