Tonight on “LEGO Masters,” the contestants are slamming the pedal to the metal! “LEGO Masters” teams up with LEGO 2K Drive, challenging teams to smash a race car and water vehicle of their choosing, and then use the bricks to create an off-road remote-controlled vehicle for an ultimate race. With an unexpected twist, the winning car will not only drive their team into the semi-finals, but will also become a playable vehicle in the actual video game in the all-new “LEGO 2K Drive” episode of “LEGO Masters” airing Thursday, November 16 (9:01-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

With an infinite amount of LEGO bricks, the realm of possibilities is endless. These ambitious teams of two will battle it out for the chance to win a $100,000 cash prize, the ultimate LEGO trophy, the title of LEGO MASTERS and for the first time ever, the winning build will be turned into an actual LEGO set. Actor and executive producer Will Arnett hosts with Brickmasters Amy Corbett and Jamie Berard back as judges.

These are the teams still in the running for this year’s title: Christopher & Robert (tech bros), Emilee & Kelly (competitive moms), Luis & Alex (teachers), Neena & Sam (mother/son) and Paul & Nealita (siblings). See all this season’s contestants in the gallery above.

9:00 p.m. — Previously on “LEGO Masters”! In episode 7, teams had only eight hours to build luxurious bags that were both functional and runway-worthy. In the end, Christopher & Robert landed on the cover of “Brick Chic” and Allyson & Melanie were eliminated for their unrealistic beach bag. Who will be eliminated next?

9:05 p.m. — The contestants arrive in the build room and see various LEGO vehicles lined up on a shelf. Will reveals they’ve teamed up with 2K games for “LEGO 2K Drive.” Each team will select one race car and one water vehicle, smash them together and use the leftover bricks to build a brand new off-road remote control vehicle. Then they’ll race! To make things more difficult, the brick pit is off limits. Jamie says he expects something “new” and “strong.” Amy says it’s not just about strength, because the best looking vehicle win the advantage to start in pole position.

9:30 p.m. — After some epic crashes the teams have their bricks and begin working on their remote control vehicles. The race begins in eight hours. The Brickmasters explain the race will take place on an off-road course. Winning matters, but so do aesthetics. Emilee & Kelly seem to be struggling the most, unhappy with all their gray bricks. They were hoping to make a bumblebee, but Amy encourages them that it doesn’t have to be so literal. Halfway through the build, Will stops the clock to announce a twist. The winning car today will become a playable vehicle in “LEGO 2K Drive.” This is perhaps the most exciting prize ever, especially if you ask Christopher & Robert.

9:35 p.m. — Christopher & Robert realize they have a big problem when the front of their shark vehicle falls off during a test drive. What’s a shark without the jaws or the tail? They’ll have to work some magic to avoid elimination. At least they’re testing it. Most teams have waited until the last 10 minutes to even start. Finally time expires and it’s time for these vehicles to hit the race track!

9:45 p.m. — Before the race, the Brickmasters will judge aesthetics. Neena & Sam’s “The Green Machine” are impressed with the transformation. She wishes the solar panels on the back were flowers instead. Christopher & Robert have “Fintastic Flamin’ Shark-a-Tron.” Amy calls it “fantastical” and “clever.” Jamie says every piece was special and they created a “nice angular body.” Every shape is complicated and dynamic. Next are Emilee & Kelly with “Stinger the Off-Road Bee-Hicle.” Jamie says it’s not completely round, but they embrace the angularity. Amy wishes there were more bumblebee stripes. Paul & Nealita have “Swamp Road Vehicle.” Amy likes the details on the side. She would have loved to see more focus of the green color on the frog. Luis & Alex have “Croqueta Mover.” Jamie says it will be challenging to turn because it’s top-heavy. Amy says the red stripe is giving her “sandwich vibes.” The team with the best looking vehicle and earning pole position is Christopher & Robert.

9:55 p.m. — It is now time to race. The first car to cross the finish lane after six laps will automatically be entered into the Top 2 this week. The race begins and right out of the gate the cars are crashing all over. Christopher is off to an early lead as he laughs maniacally. It’s an action-packed race, but the winners of this race are Christopher & Robert. Paul & Nealita finish in 2nd, Neena & Sam are 3rd, Emilee & Kelly are 4th and Luis & Alex finish last.

10:00 p.m. — The results seem pretty obvious so the Brickmasters name the clear winner: Christopher & Robert. They had the most aesthetically pleasing vehicle and also won the race. On the other hand, the clear losers here were Luis & Alex, who didn’t have a good design and just couldn’t get their car up to speed. Sadly, they’ll head home in fifth place.
