LeBron James has sounded off regarding reports that his son, Bronny James, has fallen off of mock boards for the 2024 NBA Draft.

On Monday, Feb. 26, ESPN’s NBA Draft expert Jonathan Givony released his latest mock draft, which doesn’t project Bronny James as being picked in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The chatter generated around the report was enough to evoke a reaction from LeBron himself, who urged critics and fans to allow Bronny to improve at his own pace and enjoy the collegiate experience.

“Can yall please just let the kid be a kid and enjoy college basketball,” James wrote on X while sharing a post reporting on Bronny’s apparent slippage. “The work and results will ultimately do the talking no matter what he decides to do. If y’all don’t know he doesn’t care what a mock draft says, he just WORKS! Earned Not Given!”

In a subsequent tweet, LeBron would advise other kids and young adults in athletics to focus on the process and disregard outside noise regarding their skill, talent, and upside. “And to all the other kids out there striving to be great just keep your head down, blinders on and keep grinding,” the four-time NBA champ added. “These Mock Drafts doesn’t matter one bit! I promise you! Only the WORK MATTERS!! Let’s talk REAL BASKETBALL PEOPLE!”

James would later delete both posts from his account.

A high-profile recruit out of the Sierra Canyon School, Bronny James was named a McDonald’s High School All-American and was projected to be selected as high as a lottery pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Currently a freshman at USC, Bronny is currently averaging 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game in 19 appearances with the Trojans.

Earlier this year, Bronny was hospitalized after collapsing on the court during a team workout due to a congenital heart defect. The medical condition caused him to miss the beginning of the Trojan’s season, but he has since been cleared to resume basketball activities.

According to ESPN, Bronny James is now projected to be selected in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft.
