LeBron James moves to No. 4 on assists list with triple-double at Madison Square Garden

Madison Square Garden has long been a place where LeBron James has had some of his biggest moments. The Los Angeles Lakers star added another one on Tuesday night at the "World's Most Famous Arena."

James had 11 assists in the Lakers' 129-123 overtime win over the New York Knicks, moving him into No. 4 all-time in NBA history. It was part of the 38-year-old's first triple-double of the season, as he added 28 points and 10 rebounds.

The 11 assists gives James 10,338 for his storied career. He passed former Knicks and Pacers star Mark Jackson (10,334) and former Suns MVP Steve Nash (10,335).

Who is LeBron James behind in the NBA all-time assists list?

Next up on the assists list is James' friend, Phoenix Suns star Chris Paul, with 11,246. Former Utah Jazz legend John Stockton is No. 1 with 15,806.

The next mark for James to clear is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time scoring record. Tuesday's performance gave him 38,299 points for his career, meaning he needs just 89 points to pass Abdul-Jabbar's record of 38,387 that has stood for nearly 39 years.

The Lakers next play at the Pacers on Thursday night before playing at the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday.
