‘Leave The World Behind’ Trailer: Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali & Ethan Hawke Are Stunned By Massive Cyberattack In Netflix Apocalyptic Thriller – Update

UPDATED, 9:15 AM: We’re getting an expanded look at Leave the World Behind, the apocalyptic thriller starring Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke, and executive produced by the Obamas’ Higher Ground. It’s everyone for themselves when a massive cyberattack occurs and the world starts collapsing around them. Netflix released the official trailer for the film today. Check it out above.

“There’s no going back to normal,” Ali’s character G.H. Scott warns Amanda and Clay Sandford (Roberts, Hawke) as a massive cyberattack begins taking a horrifying toll on the world.

The film makes its world premiere October 25 as AFI Fest’s opening-night pic, with a red carpet gala at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. It then reach select theaters November 22 and begin streaming on Netflix on December 8.

Written and directed by Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot, Metropolis), based on the novel by Rumaan Alam, the chiller begins when Scott and his daughter Ruth (Myha’la) arrive at the luxurious home rented for the weekend by the Sandfords and their kids Archie (Charlie Evans) and Rose (Farrah Mackenzie). What starts with a blackout in New York City soon spreads to a collapsing world in unexpected ways.

The film is produced by Esmail Corp, Red Om Films, and executive produced by Higher Ground Productions.
