Leah Messer got her loved ones together for a very special celebration.

Over the weekend, the Teen Mom star, 31, gathered family and friends for a dinner in celebration of twin daughters Aliannah Hope and Aleeah Grace. The girls celebrate their 14th birthday later this week and seemed to have a blast kicking off their birthday festivities with those closest to them.

In addition to the twins, whom she shares with ex-husband Corey Simms, Messer is also mom to daughter Adalynn Faith, 10, whom she co-parents with ex-husband Jeremy Calvert.

Speaking with PEOPLE earlier this year, Messer talked about soaking up the pure "joy" she gets from seeing her three girls "grow and blossom."

"My greatest joy is just laughing together, seeing that foundation I set up for them come to fruition and seeing how everything I learned is implemented in what I've built," she shared.

"These girls are becoming everything that I wanted them to be, but more, everything that they want to be, using those tools. They're the best, an even better version of me."

In June, the reality star spoke with Teen Vogue about breaking her family's generational trauma. While discussing what she would tell her younger self, Messer revealed that she would teach her teenage self more about sex education.

Although she can't go back in time, she said she can teach her daughters. "No shame or guilt," she said, noting that she has regular safe-sex talks with her kids. "Just open conversation. When asked a question by them, I answer honestly."

According to a study by the BioMed Central Pregnancy and Childbirth, teenage pregnancy can be linked to many factors, including a family history of teenage pregnancy. Messer, her mother, and her grandmother all had teenage pregnancies, but Messer doesn't think the pattern will continue with her daughters.

"It's the little things, like booking their first gynecologist appointments together next year and having these open conversations about them...that I think will be enough to break the cycle," the reality TV star said. "I love them no matter what their journey may be, but I do want more for them and I always will."
