A decision on the future of legendary Sheffield music venue The Leadmill has been adjourned until a later date.

The site's owners Electric Group served an eviction notice on tenants The Leadmill Ltd in March 2022.

Electric Group boss Dominic Madden has taken them to court because he wants to run the site as a music venue himself.

Leadmill Ltd claim he could be breaching the law and cannot afford repair works that are needed. A new hearing date is yet to be announced.

The hearing began at the Leeds Business and Property Court on Monday.

Leadmill Ltd's legal team put forward its new case, which included defences on intellectual property, a potential breach of Human Rights law and another relating to changes to the premises.

They asked for an adjournment, which was granted by Judge David Mohyuddin KC on Tuesday.

Mr Madden told the BBC before Tuesday's hearing his company intended to carry on their fight to run the venue regardless of the hearing outcome.

A spokesperson for The Leadmill Ltd told the BBC the business would continue to operate as normal until its future is decided.

Since it opened in 1980 the venue has hosted performances from acts including Coldplay, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys and The Stone Roses.

Bookings are listed on its website until April 2025.
