Lay Lay, Blackout, Dane Cook, Fantasia: Top 5 things to do this weekend in Jacksonville

Two of Jacksonville's biggest events, Porchfest and the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair, are in full swing this weekend, but they are far from the only fun things going on in Northeast Florida this weekend. There's no Jaguars game to eat up an entire afternoon (they have the week off), so that leaves more time for concerts, comedy shows and one last chance to be terrified.

Blackout

Two more nights of frights at Jacksonville's 13th Floor Haunted House.

Halloween's done, but the folks at the 13th Floor Haunted House have one more scare up their sleeves. The same monsters are haunting their mazes but on Friday and Saturday nights, the lights are out and each group that dares enter is given one glow stick to share (and the monsters might swipe it). $24.99-$34.99.

That Girl Lay Lay/Fantasia

R&B fans have two options this weekend. That Girl Lay Lay, who was supposed to appear in Jacksonville in September as part of the Scream Tour headlined by Bow Wow before that show was canceled, headlines a concert of her own at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Moran Theatre ($25-$59). On Saturday, Fantasia headlines a show at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, with seven-time Grammy nominee Joe opening ($59-$250).

'A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...'

You might not recognize John Williams' name, but you almost certainly know his music. The Jacksonville Symphony will play Williams' works from the "Star Wars" films, "Jaws" and others at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Jacoby Symphony Hall ($34-$90). They'll also do an abbreviated matinee performance at 11 a.m. Friday ($29-$44).

Funny men

They might not be as popular as they once were, but Colin Quinn and Dane Cook can still bring a crowd to hysterics. Quinn, who first came into the spotlight back on MTV's "Remote Control" game show, is at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall at 8 p.m. Friday ($39.50-$62.50). Cook, who hosted "Saturday Night Live," starred in movies with Jessica Alba and Jessica Simpson and then just sort of faded away, brngs his Perfectly Shattered Tour to the Moran Theater at 8 p.m. Sunday ($39.50-$89.50).

Papercutt

The guys in Papercutt don't take themselves too seriously. The '80s hair-metal tribute band has been around for 20 years, though, and that's worth celebrating. They play a sold-out show Saturday at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre Backyard Stage, raising funds for the United Way of St. Johns County Stocking Fund.
