Lawrence North freshman R'Mon Rowley was 'loved by all that knew him'

The 15-year-old freshman who died during track and field practice at Lawrence North High School on Monday has been identified as R'Mon Rowley, according to the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

A cause of death was not made available. Lawrence Township EMS responded to a call at practice for a student in cardiac arrest on Monday at 5:24 p.m.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by his aunt, Tamica Russ, to help with funeral costs. Russ described Rowley as "very respectful and kind and loved by all that knew him."

"He loved anime, with Naruto being one of his favorite shows," the GoFundMe page says. "He loved to draw and was very good at it. He was in the Big Brothers program and he always expressed how much he wanted to be a Zoologist. He was excited about the opportunity to play high school football."

“The Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township and Lawrence North High School are extremely saddened by the sudden and unexpected death of a 15-year old freshman student this evening at Track & Field practice,” the township said in a statement on Monday. “Our deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends, teachers, and classmates.”
