Yes, Virginia, there is an Olivia Benson.

The line between Mariska Hargitay’s on- and off-screen lives recently became really blurry, when a young girl reportedly interrupted a Law & Order: SVU location shoot in New York City to ask the actress to help her find her mother.

Apparently the child and her mother became separated at Anne Loftus Playground in Fort Tryon Park in northern Manhattan on Wednesday, April 10. SVU happened to be shooting some outdoor scenes in the park that day, as well. And when the girl saw Benson’s police badge hanging from Hargitay’s belt, she thought the Emmy winner was a real NYPD cop and asked for help finding her parent.

Per People, Hargitay stopped filming the scene, which also included Ice-T, and spent 20 minutes reuniting the girl with her mother and talking with them after.

SVU currently is airing its 25th season. In March, it was renewed for Season 26, as were most of Dick Wolf’s other NBC procedurals: Law & Order will be back for Season 24, Chicago Med for Season 10, Chicago Fire for Season 13 and Chicago P.D. for Season 12. That leaves only SVU spinoff Law & Order: Organized Crime with an unknown fate for the 2024-25 TV season.

Take a look at the photo at the top of the post — which is a shot of Hargitay and the lost girl and not an SVU still, though it totally could be — then hit the comments with your thoughts!
