Law & Order has added a new cop to its ranks.

Veep alum Reid Scott has joined the flagship NBC procedural as an NYPD detective for Season 23, TVLine has learned.

The actor, who just came off a well-received stint as the fictional late-night talk show host Gordon Ford for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s final season, will fill the void left by Jeffrey Donovan’s departure. As previously reported, Donovan will not reprise his role as Det. Frank Cosgrove after two seasons for creative reasons.

Details about Scott’s character have not been made available.

This is the latest in a series of casting shake-ups for the venerable Dick Wolf drama, which was revived in 2022 after its cancellation in 2010. Anthony Anderson, who reprised his role as Det. Kevin Bernard for the continuation, left the show after Season 21. Supergirl alum Mehcad Brooks then joined the cast in Season 22 as Frank’s new partner Jalen Shaw.

The current ensemble also includes original series star Sam Waterston as esteemed DA Jack McCoy, Hugh Dancy (Hannibal, The Path) as senior prosecutorial assistant Nathan Price, Oldelya Halevi (Good Trouble) as ADA Samantha Maroun and Camryn Manheim (The Practice) as Lt. Kate Dixon.

Scott’s additional TV credits include American Horror Stories, The Big C, Why Women Kill, My Boys, The Secret Life of the American Teenager and American Dreams.

Law & Order will return to NBC with a strikes-related shortened 13-episode Season 23 on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 8/7c.
