Law & Order: Organized Crime‘s search for a Season 4 showrunner is dun-done.

Organized Crime — led by Christopher Meloni, reprising his SVU role as Elliot Stabler — premiered in April 2021, and had already cycled through five showrunners. Original series boss Matt Olmstead was replaced by Ilene Chaiken before the spinoff made it to air, while Chaiken was replaced by Barry O’Brien midway through Season 2. O’Brien was succeeded by Bryan Goluboff, who lasted three months, before Sean Jablonski was appointed showrunner No. 4.

Jablonski left in mid-March over “creative differences,” at which point current SVU boss David Graziano was brought on to oversee the final three episodes of Season 3.

Next in queue to seize the reins, TVLine has learned, is veteran TV producer/writer John Shiban, who spent the last three seasons as an EP on Netflix’s acclaimed Ozark. There, Shiban was nominated for both an Emmy and a WGA Award, for writing the episode “Boss Fight.”

Shiban began his career as a staff writer on The X-Files, where he penned or co-wrote more than 20 episodes (earning one Emmy nod along the way) and served as an executive producer by the end of its nine-year run.

Shiban joined AMC’s Breaking Bad as a consulting producer in its second season and penned several episodes of the acclaimed series, netting a WGA Award nomination for “Phoenix.” His other credits include Hulu’s Shut Eye (where he served as showrunner), Da Vinci’s Demons, Hell on Wheels, Vampire Diaries and Supernatural.
