After a series of cancelled shows, Ms. Lauryn Hill has confirmed that the Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill Anniversary Tour is, for the most part, postponed until early 2024. The New Jersey native issued a statement on the matter via her Instagram, citing her ongoing vocal strain as the main cause behind the rescheduling.

Hill expressed, “In order to prevent any long term negative affect on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely.”

She revealed that last month of touring has been increasingly detrimental to her health because she’s been taking prescription prednisone to overcome “serious vocal strain.” This has already led to some shows getting cancelled. Thus, most of the remaining shows will be pushed back until “early 2024,” but new cities will be added to the tour in the new year including an overseas leg.

Accompanied with a video of her performing “Ex Factor,” Hill wrote, “I’d like to start this off by saying how much I’ve enjoyed being on the road, and how much I appreciate all of the fans who have come out to celebrate this incredible milestone anniversary and history making reunion with us.”

She explained that touring her solo debut album 25 years after its release has been an “emotional experience.” Not to mention, reuniting with Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel of The Fugees has been “powerful and amazing — those who’ve witnessed it can testify.”

The 48-year-old said the tour reminded her as an artist and audiences of “less complicated times when ‘It could all be so simple…’ or ‘Ready Or Not, here I come!’ were on repeat on the airwaves.”

The final show for 2023 will take place this weekend in Philly since Hill already rescheduled this show once before. “It’s basically hometown for us — so we’ll close out the year with one final show amongst friends and family!” she stated.

The doting mother of six concluded, “We’re ALL looking forward to getting back out again next year to finish this EPIC (now extended anniversary) celebration of these CLASSICS.”

The postponement comes after she was condemned for explaining her routine lateness by stating, “Y’all lucky I make it on this blood ras stage every night.” After the snippet went viral, Hill released the full speech from that night, captioning the 13-minute video, “Context is key.” Watch below.
