Laurie Hernandez’s Tango Trouble on ‘DWTS’
Monday’s Dancing With the Stars was a special head-to-head episode, pitting actress Marilu Henner against gymnast Laurie Hernandez in a tango battle.
Laurie Hernandez seemed to have a difficult time channeling the sensuality of the tango. She said, “It’s not like I’ve had a boyfriend or anything. I mean, I sleep with a teddy bear every night.”
Her dance partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, tried to breathe some passion into her performance. He pulled out the old adage, “It takes two … ?” Laurie replied, “To make a thing go right.”
Marilu Henner brought her wealth of experience to her tango performance but Laurie Hernandez won the round with her gymnastic ability. When she was asked how her face conveyed so much sultry emotion, she said, “I was telling Val that I gotta pretend I’m smelling a real good quesadilla.”
