Laurie Anderson Wins 2020 Vanguard Award and Residency at New York City’s Joe’s Pub

Laurie Anderson has been named the recipient of the 2020 Vanguard Award from Joe’s Pub, one of the performances spaces within The Public Theater in New York City. Along with a $50,000 cash prize, the award comes with a residency at the venue. Anderson’s residency will stretch from March 2020 through December 2020, and will see the renowned experimental artist “pair up writers and musicians” from within her circle, as The New York Times reports. The shows will take place on one Sunday of each month and Anderson will be performing on four of the nights, selecting performers for the rest.

Last month, Anderson joined Tenzin ChoegyalJesse and Paris Smith on a new collaborative album, Songs From the Bardo.
