The Witcher has found its Regis. Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Laurence Fishburne is joining the upcoming fourth season of the Netflix series as the fan-favorite character from The Witcher books and games.

Introduced in Sapkowski’s novel Baptism of Fire, Regis is a world-wise Barber-surgeon with a mysterious past who joins Geralt on his journey in Season 4. Geralt will be played by Liam Hemsworth, who takes over the role from Henry Cavill, who exited at the end of Season 3.

After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other.  If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.

“I’m very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher,” said Fishburne.

In addition to Hemsworth, Fishburne joins co-stars Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan and Joey Batey.

The Witcher is executive produced by Steve Gaub, Matt O’Toole, Mike Ostrowski, Javier Grillo-Marxuach, Platige Films (Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko) and Hivemind Content (Jason Brown and Sean Daniel).

Fishburne was most recently seen in John Wick: Chapter 4 as well as Netflix’s The School of Good and Evil. He recently wrapped production on Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis. He’s repped by CAA, Landmark Artists Management and Del Shaw Moonves.
